Smudge Music - Logo set

Over the past 12 months Split has worked with Dubstep label Smudge on a number of projects. Shown here are the logos developed for 4 of the artists on the label.

Maidu's music draws on pagan & new-age influences combined with contemporary dubstep beats. The logo mark uses a pagan-like star (created from the letter M repeated 3 times) combined with a clean cut, contemporary type design. 

The latest addition to the label, Rogan's logo reflects his edgy, glitchy style of music. Here the process of sampling, splicing and mixing is mimicked by the type to create a visual equivalent to the glitch-hop influences in his music. 

Nixti's music uses oriental music and organic sounds reworked into a unique digital sound. A version of the logo is also used at 90 degrees, reading downwards, as with traditional chinese script. 

The type in Tarn's logo began life based loosely on the shapes of hills and mountains and evolved to create a mark that reflects his cinematic yet bold approach to the music.
